rifleman
Car's been sitting on the lot fifteen months with <50 miles on odo. Is it reasonable to request an oil change before purchasing this vehicle? Is the out-of-the-factory oil a special formulation designed for break-in purposes, (in which case a dealer may not be able to replace it) or is it the run-of-the-mill stuff? Will also ask for an alignment check (pronounced drift to the right on two test drives). Just don't want to come across as a p***k from the git-go. SnoDork
Hey, if you'er interested in a car that's been on their lot for 15months, you're a HERO to them...Ask for the MOON and see what you get!! Good luck!! ~Sucka-Duck~
EL PAALO
ask and ye shall receive on a new '05. the oil is break in though afaik.
Jedi Pimp
They don't use break in oil. However oil that has been sitting like that for 15 months will develop some condensation and acids in it. Have them change it FTW!!!
starlabs
Definitely have them fix any and all of your concerns. -=- Livin life at 140 BPM -=-

Pronounced drift to the right is an understatement!
rfd425
Oil change? You're talking about a <$30 retail service on a new car that they need to sell. I don't think they are going to quibble over that. For the sake of pricing comparison, I was at the dealer tonight to get an oil change for my wife's OB, and they had a brand new '05 LGT Limited 5MT for sale for $23,995. It had the STi short-shifter, auto-dimming mirror, upgraded security system, and probably one or two other minor options. MSRP was $29.9K. There was no indication that it was a demo, but the sales department was closed, so I couldn't ask anyone. It was basically identical to my car: Atlantic Blue with the taupe leather interior. bluesuby
Give it a real good look before buying. Any body damage repairs? 15 months is a lifetime to be on the lot.
skibum761
DAMN REDNECKS IN ALABAMA!!!! Okay here's my story. Went into the dealership back in november wanting to purchase this 05 legacy. They would not budge off the price, the lowest they would go was the rebate price minus thier stupid invoice which put the car at 24500. Keep in mind this is just a regular gt no a limited. I walked out of there and now it's end of janruray. They had to start the car in order to test drive it, that's how long it's been sitting there. Keep you updated but i'm looking around 21 or 20 g's for the price and about 22 g's out the door. MSRP IS 28,
rfd425
^^^^If the MSRP is $28.7K, I figure their true break-even price on that car is around $23K. $20K or $21K might be optimistic. If you could get it for under $23K before tt&l, you'd be doing well.
EL PAALO
what options does a non limited have on it to bump the msrp so high?
rfd425
what options does a non limited have on it to bump the msrp so high? Automatic transmission, spoiler, auto-dimming mirror & security system upgrade, one or two other little things, and I think you'd be pretty close. starlabs
Heated seats are indeed standard on both non- and limited models -=- Livin life at 140 BPM -=-
