Protune Results Thread

Allow me to start by saying that Jon is a great guy and his service is top notch. He has more or less transformed my LGT in more ways than a chart will ever really be able to encompass. When he finished, the turbo was spooling sooner and with considerably better results than the base map could ever accomplish. The actual dyno plot tells much more of the story but I don't have my scanner online right now so you will have to live with peak numbers (SAE Corrected).

awhp: 270

torque: 335

Two words seem to best encompass Jon's style of tuning: Smooth and Fast

With the base map before any tuning:

awhp: 255

torque: 296

That differs from the Cobb Stage 2 map that I was running before but that dyno was done before the introduction of the Perrin Top Mount so this isn't apples to apples but it gives you an idea:

awhp: 259

torque: 306

I suspect that I may have actually been losing some power when I put the Perrin top mount on with the off the shelf Cobb map. But now, its paying off so its all good.

The amazing part about this tune is how he has been able to provide some staggering gains with earlier spool all before 3500 rpm. I am making peak torque levels at around 3000 rpm and that is around 60 ft/lbs more than it was before at the same point in the RPM band and almost 40 ft/lbs more than the previous peak level of torque. I wasn't expecting much more hp but 15 more wheel hp is somewhat mind boggling. Naturally, it has more power at every point than it did before and let me just say that it is obvious. It's damn near inspirational... but I will still likely get a bigger turbo one of these days. I guess I'm just an addict and Jon will be my dealer. I can live with that! :icon_twis

As soon as I get it scanned, I'll make sure to post up the plot for all of you.

I was there this afternoon between about 1 and 2 while Jon was tuning the blue '05 STI. Simply amazing to watch the peak HP and TQ just go up and up with each pull...not to mention the increase in area under each curve. I left there a little sad that I hadn't modded the hell out of my LGT already so I could take advantage of his services. Soon...

Hey jmanzs,

How did you tune go? I had to leave before you guys worked out the new CAI issues.

btw, I don't know what happened with the first tool I used to open the graphs. They all showed 130hp and no other adjustments available... I thought the civic comment was funny... but no one laughed.

Lol well I hope that it shows more than 130 now! The intake wasnt happinin, Jon tried to make it work but the maf was throwing wacky numbers so I ended up putting back on the stock air box :icon_mad:. But on the light note I already have a line of people that want to buy it :icon_tong
