Decisions, decisions

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I am new to this forum although I have been lurking around trying to glean more info about the Legacy GT. I am in the market for a new car and the legacy seems to fit my needs very well. I am also considering and Audi A4. What can you kind folks tell me about the Legacy that makes it such a great car? and why do you feel it is a better vehicle than the A4. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

You have togo for the V6 quattro model to get match the LGT equipment-wise. That's 35K MSRP or 33-32K invoice, SpecB territory.

Even then, the LGT is still fastAr.

What are your priorities? Performance, luxury, space, reliability, modability, safety, price, resale value?

Price, performance, reliability, safety, and incredible aftermarket making it relatively simple and (relatively) inexpensive to take it from terrific sports sedan to supercar performance territory, or anywhere along the way, if desired.

Thanks for the responses everybody. I guess I am interested in performance and the AWD system as I do a lot of traveling in the mountains out here. Several of you mentioned aftermarket goodies. What kind of mods are we talking about? Chips, intakes?

Well there is Stage 2 kits that can bump you to something like 260 AWHP and 300 Ft/Lbs for around $1200. That's all while retaining stock turbo and stock fuel system. Up-pipe, downpipe, and AccessPort should do the trick. The best part, that is just the beginning. Reading through these boards for almost a year now, I have seen our Legacys transformed into monster HP machines. As far as i'm concerned, since these motors are one of the favorites in the Glamis Dunes out here in California, they definately prove themselfs to be able to handle the power and abuse that those people put them through.

An Audi is heavier than a comparable LGT (from what I've read, approx 200lbs)... not only will you feel it in the acceleration, but most definitely in the handling too.

+1 for reliability. My last car was an Audi, and had a multitude of problems. Most were minor, but when you're paying +$35k for a car, you expect more.

And if you're going to be into mods, in general the mod scene will be cheaper for Subies than for Audi's.

Having said that, in general Audi interiors are quite good, and still hold a decent advantage over the LGT interior.

Subies aren't known for their status or luxury factor, but for the performance+value combo, they're hard to beat. :)
