elpete77
Took me six tries to shut my glove compartment this morning. All I have in there is a map. A small map. Boy, what would happen if I put some gloves in my glove compartment?

melayout
Looks like the alpha(04-05) version is more stable than the beta(05-06) version. IMO that could be attributed to the HVAC environmental filter installed in the beta versions, which requires a hole in the back of the glove box and may have weakened the whole structure making it less sturdier, looser and more likely to open unintentionally. heybige
What I learned after a few ridculously hard slams is to hold the handle latch "open", close the door all the way, then let go of the latch. Should work.

rpm6500
I had the problem a few times and found a fix that worked very well. In my MY06 the owner's manual "wallet" was getting in the way slightly. If I make sure that the wallet's flap is aligned with the edge of the wallet and not goingover the wallets edge then shutting the glove bin's door is as easy as in every other car I own. I hope I explained this well enough. After I made this slight adjustment to how I put the wallet back I have had 0 problems. Its just SOA trying to make me take my time in life I guess (just like waiting a tick before turning the engine over if I want full use of my trip computer!) twisted
chronic subaru problems since time immemorial (as the miles start climbing on the odo) are: -wind noise from windows -clutch studdering issue -rough idle -glove compartment issues during cold -crappiest brakes and brake feel ever -paint on side-view mirror base fading -factory speakers going out with less than easy fitment of aftermarket ones -fragile power window switches -and the re92s only new addition with new models is -thin crappy paint so all i can say is..live with it...or go but an Acura RL and live happily ever after

ddub
mine is hard to close from the driver's seat. The trick is to push it slightly toward the driver's side when closing. The natural tendency from the driver's position is to push it to the passenger side and mine never closes when pushed like that. ________ Strawberry Cough
mwiener2
-wind noise from windows -- close them -clutch studdering issue -- that would be driver error if it's clutch related -rough idle -- it's a boxer, that's what it does. Porsches do the same thing -glove compartment issues during cold -- you all smoke crack -crappiest brakes and brake feel ever -- try a minivan -paint on side-view mirror base fading -- it's not painted, it's plastic -factory speakers going out with less than easy fitment of aftermarket ones -- wtf? -fragile power window switches -- again, wtf? -and the re92s -- not a problem of the car...just a poor tire only new addition with new models is -thin crappy paint -- eh My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
