volcomst0ne24
ive gotten to the part where you need a stereo patch cable. do i need to buy this on my own. im very confused right now!
Jerboa113
yes what I did was go to radio shack and buy a converter cable that was 6' that converts headphone jack to R/L composite, but then I converted it right back the other way so.... I dunno why I did it... actually yes I do.. I converted it to composite so I could run standard automotive RCAs the length of the vehicle. If you're using an ipod or something you dont need to convert it like that. Jerboa113
its real easy, if you are opening up the radio and putting the jazzy mod in then connecting the aux in cable itself is no problem. what I did was removed the small random sticky peice of lexan from the back of the radio (whats that for??) and ran my cable out the remaining hole.. works well so far. just take yer time its real easy to do, all plug n play, might wanna have a friend/spouse/sibling/other individual around to hold thingfs tho, just makes it easier I found. Jerboa113
you took off the arm rest? or you mean the center console itself? cos uh.. you dont have to take off the armrest "The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men." - Plato
volcomst0ne24
broke the tab near where the heated seats are. no BIG deal...now how and where do i route the stereo cable for the ipod....how do i route that so i can plug my ipod in
NutBucket
Route it wherever is convenient. I would guess either the center console or the storage cubby between the vents would be best.
volcomst0ne24
im not quite sure HOW to get it thru the vents or the center console i think id RATHER have it in the center but im not sure...any ideas on HOW to di it
Claw
go grab the vacation pictures (hint: do a search). That'll show you how the center console comes apart. you don't *have* to take out the armrest, but it makes it easier if you do. I've got my iPod routed to the upper shelf of the armrest box (I've got the euro-armrest with 2 layers.. in a few weeks I'll see if I can hook up a power converter to the iPod directly to the cig lighter in the armrest. volcomst0ne24
claw, think i can drill right to the right of where the radio goes through the plastic just a nice hole for the wire to poke thru than buy a arm for the ipod and just connect via there? volcomst0ne24
p.s. i CANNOT find where the AMP wire attaches back to the back of the radio
Jerboa113
AMP wire? um... what? we are talking about the jazzy aux in right? made by the guy jazzmy? small plug n play device that involves taking the radio apart etc. etc.? I dont recall such a wire.. "The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men." - Plato

Jerboa113
oh, um, couldn't tell ya, I know on my radio theres 3 wires and they only went in 3 places.. ok well theres a 4th one but I think its like a ground or something it went on a small tab on the driver side. that reminds me, I never hooked my flasher switch back up.. volcomst0ne24
haha i got the flasher switch....now where to drill a hole. can i drill it over to the passenger side just to the side of the radio area?
Claw
You can drill a hole anywhere. Just make sure there's nothing important on the other side of where you're drilling that might be expensive to fix...
Jerboa113
I wouldn't drill a hole anywhere puersonally except for perhaps in the back of the cubby pocket, drilling it in the radio face or trim will reduce the value of the car and be way more conspicuous "The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men." - Plato

Jerboa113
agreed, I dunno bout the language thing either, as hard as it is for me not to swear I think I've done ok with that on here hehe cup holder was a good idea, splitting it.. was not btw mods, if you could please move this to the audio forum as thats where it really should be.. cup holder part #s are: black: 66155ag09ajc ivory: 66155ag09awa time to order a new one from subaruparts "The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men." - Plato
