Driveway Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago 2009 na 5mt 164k So, I'm trying to figure out a rough idle issue that's driving me up the wall. Long short, water pump failed and was dumping coolant. I got the whole kit and changed everything since I was in there. Then the other shoe dropped when I noticed an oil leak at the head gasket. Pulled the engine and took the heads in to be decked. After putting everything back together it fired right up and is running pretty good except for the idle and MAYBE a miss(?) while driving. It's so slight I can't decide if I'm imagining it. After it warms up it idles at about 675 and I can feel the car shaking and hear what sounds like a misfire. It sounds like the engine "stumbles" (the only way I can think to describe it). I've done the idle relearn 6 times and it doesn't change. No codes. I replaced the coil(NGK) and wires(NGK). I re-gaped the plugs (NGK ruthenium). I can't find any vacuum leaks. I pulled the front cover off and verified that the timing marks are correct. I listened to the injectors with a stethoscope and I can hear all of them working.(of course that doesn't mean one or more aren't clogged) 2 things that don't seem correct. The evap purge solenoid continuously clicks while the engine is running. From idle if I hit the throttle fast the engine makes a "whoosh" sound like air being sucked through a tube and then the RPM increases. If I hit the throttle easier it does not make the sound and the rpm increases right away. If I can't find the problem soon I'm going to have to take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it. At $200 for an hour I'm trying to avoid that. Any thoughts or suggestions?
NORULZleggy Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Did you replace the plugs yet??? I saw you said you regaped them, but I had a 2008 N/A and had issues bad idle and it was the plugs. I got OEM plugs and wires, and the problem went away. I never had a problem with injectors at all.
