highlander
Does anyone have a part number for a complete rear package tray for Japanese or Australian markets? I'm looking for the one with the OEM rear subwoofer grill......in taupe. I've solicited info from Subaru of Australia to get info on the OEM 13 speaker premium audio system they have in the 2.5GT and 3.0R models. Still waiting though. My idea is to replace the torsion spring rods on the trunk lid with hydraulic lifts, then build a custom cabinet for a single 10" under the rear deack where the OEM sub would go, and have it 'breathe' through the OEM 8" grill. Bigger sound while maintaining a stock appearance to the casual observer. PGT
why not just build an enclosure for the side pocket area?
highlander
primarily because I want to keep all of the floor space available in the trunk and develop a stealth appearance. A custom rear deck based enclosure will afford me that. The harder part is the hydraluic trunk lifts! Monkeyshack
Let me know how that works. I got an 8" free air sub to put in that spot only to realize there is very little clearance... but with the hydraulic lift you shouldn’t have any problems. IwannaSportSedan
What Free-air 8" sub did you get? I have been trying to mentally assemble a parts list for adding a sub like that... The part number for the rear deck upholstery with the sub grille would be a handy thing, too, and an austrailian or other source willing to ship to the US... Unless there is an easy way to cut a big hole in the USDM upholstery peice.
Monkeyshack
I got a Kicker Comp 8" C84, its just sitting in a box I made waiting for me to get an amp to install it. http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC05C84
IwannaSportSedan
Let me know how the install goes, in terms of fitting the sub to the deck... Very interesting. Looks like a really nice driver. JL had one, and I think it got discontinued...
Monkeyshack
Unfortunately, I never got it installed because it was too deep (I locked myself in the trunk and got a ruler out)... but if the Australian parts give it more clearance then it might be worth pursuing again. I think the sub that they put back there must be like the one under the seat that the US models get, ~2in deep, so that one would fit. idk
