Infosecdad
This might be bad... https://www.carscoops.com/2024/09/cobb-tuning-fined-2-9-million-for-selling-gas-emissions-defeat-devices/ "A consent decree will force the Texas-based company to pay $2.914 million in four installments, plus interest, over three years. It’s claimed the firm’s systems resulted in increased emissions of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and other pollutants. The company must stop selling these devices and can only continue to sell tuners and tunes that have undergone an engineering evaluation and have been proven not to increase emissions above allowable levels." "It’s bad news for owners of vehicles with Cobb tunes, too. The company must force updates to end-users to remove emissions defeat features, cease providing technical support, and deny all warranty claims for any defeat devices. All Cobb employees must destroy any defeat devices they have."
DrD123
I wonder which of the current things they have to get rid of - I know for my old 12 LGT the version 4.00 stage 1 maps were noted as being 50 state compliant and had a CARB cert posted on their website... maybe the stage 2 stuff (high flow cats, etc.)? They also spread to way beyond Subaru - I was poking around and some of the Ford trucks (the F150, anyway) doesn't have maps listed anymore - were they messing with diesels, too? Code
Cobb released a statement that said their current offerings are all in compliance. I have no clue what it would take to retune my car on the AP if needed. I run speed density, no MAF, no TGV, air pump delete, o2 sensors all disabled. FML. My f150 ecoboost 3.5L is on the OTS STG1 tune. I’m surprised that map is NLA being that it runs all factory hardware.
