garygbnj
Intermittently the two overhead lights over the front seat stay on at a very low illumination. They normally come on and dim down to off after a short time. Last night I had not immediately gotten out of the car and saw that the lights dimmed way down but never went off. This is the most likely cause why a good battery goes dead every 3-5 months. The bulbs are on at such a low brightness that you would never notice during daylight unless you were looking at the bulbs. I would guess that the switch or module that controls the dimming and then turning off the power to the bulbs is what is not intermittently functioning properly. Has anyone else had this problem and what is the solution? Thanks
silverton
Do they happen to be LEDs?

silverton
That's your problem, almost put money on it. Subaru's and aftermarket LEDs mix like oil and water.

KZJonny
Interesting! I have this problem when the car sits for a long time, and despite looking for parasatic draw, really never found anything. I always attributed it to just ghost drain. The DPO of the car had installed all LED light in the interior, so perhaps this the culprit. Time to change those all out and see if that problem goes away.
garygbnj
I drew the same conclusion after the post about the led's could be the culprit. I removed the led interior bulbs and replaced with incandescent bulbs. Time will tell if that was the problem. I called Subaru tech support and the tech stated that the dimming feature of the interior lights was computer controlled. The change in draw of an led might be the culprit.
