Emjayex
Hello everyone. Ive got a 98 Legacy Outback, and the radiator will need to be replaced soon. Its cracked a bit around the inlet hose connection and leaking a tad bit of coolant (nothing serious, prob a drop of coolant a minute). I was wondering if all ej25d's have radiators with trans fluid cooling lines? I have a manual if that helps. It seems like the trans cooling lines are for the 4EATs? My current radiator doesnt have any trans fluid cooling line hoses or fittings. I cant seem to find any info. Does anyone else own a 2nd gen Legacy, 1st gen Impreza with the 2.5 and a manual transmission? And thoughts/insight is appreciated

KZJonny
Looking at Rockauto, seems like all the aftermarket ones do. I wouldn’t worry about it, just don’t hook them up. Should be totally fine to cut them off if they bother you…

KZJonny
NP dude. The link is assumng you have a 2.2L, but all the rads look the same to me: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/subaru,1998,legacy,2.2l+h4,1305492,cooling+system,radiator,2172 More important is having the in and out ports in the right places. It would be3 pretty unusual tho not unheard of to have those be in different places on the rad for auto/manual. Definitely a possibility between the 2.2 and 2.5, but even then... Ther probably just made far more automatics, so it isn't worth it for the aftermarket to keep 2 designs in production any longer. Default to makin the rad fit an auto. Could be where you run additiional engine oil cooling if you wanted to?

I just picked up a used radiator off another outback (looks good, no leaks off the parts car) for like $30 and ima test it out
