Precise
i saw a lot of these popping up so i figured with a new digi cam i'll share some pics too. I finished this September of this year. The equipment includes: JL audio 450/4 JL audio 500/1 JL audio 10w6v2 JL audio Cleansweep DLS ms6 6.5 components Fiberglass enclosure It was a self install and my first one at that, im glad i did it, i learned a lot although it was one of the most time consuming things i have ever done. i gained alot of respect for sound installers. only bad things so far: i scratched the trim around my shift knob a lil bit, there are a couple of rattles (not sure if its cuz of the installation or not) I love everything else about it, its the exact sound i was looking for and i have all my trunk space still....however..... i still dont plan on keeping it for too long. Its not so much that I'm growing tired of it...rather, I want to try other things out on the LGT so i'm probably gonna sell all my stuff pretty soon and get some other goodies (rims/tires/exterior bling/engine management?) special thanks to msmith, mwiener2, and lisn2me2 and lgt.com for all the help...comments welcome
bdub
Good for you for doing it by yourself. The sub box looks great - very well integrated. The wires could be cleaned up a bit, but if you're not gonna keep it for much longer, why bother.

Nsaglibene
Nice man, Im not a big fan or systems and all that... but if its done I would keep it. You might miss it and its a nice token of your hard work. Oh and why do you have the jack tool if you dont have a spare or jack in there?
Precise
The spare tire is still in there and accessible...it was one of the goals of my install...just in case i got a flat i didnt want to be without it. To access it, I simply have to lift up the amp rack from the handle. As for keeping it, I wish I could, but its just not financially possible for me to get everything I want for this car at the same time. I'm in school and not working anymore, so it will be very difficult for me to acquire money on the side. I haven't defenitely decided to get rid of it, but if I want other things, I will need to. Just the fact that I was able to do it, miraculously, is good enough for me! ;] One thing to note, the cleansweep makes everything sound so sweet and equalized, very very nice. Only thing that bugs me slightly is that I cant use the radio volume knob. I kept the knobs on the side because I didn't want to drill any holes, but whenever anyone is in my car, the firrst thing they reach for is the stock radio knob, which of course you shouldnt do with the cleansweep. Don't mind bugging me. I bugged plenty others and I would be glad to help anyone out with anything And for messy wires, I really wanted it to be as clean as possible, but I ran out of time before school started. I wish I had time to clean everything up, but it works for now and nobody sees it... more comments and questions!!!
PGT
nice job on the back! I have the same fuse holder and looked at the same spot to mount mine, but fabbed a vertical bracket that sits under the battery tie down (not 100% crazy about it). I might go back and install it the way you did...it just looks better.
fzanetti
No plans for head unit swap? Like we have seen in the forum lately? Flavio ZanettiBoston, MA
Precise
no, no plans yet. My limitations come from the fact that the car is on a smart buy so I'm not sure whether or not I'm keeping the car at the end of 3years. I'm trying to do as much work as possible that is reversible as well.
Eric L
Nice install... however something to keep in mind... My 300/4 died inside the spare tire compartment like that... I'm still not sure if heat killed it or what.... just a heads up....
hondas123
Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a "Smart Buy"? Thanks - The Mortgage Man
Precise
umm I'm not really sure either. My dealer said that in New York, Subaru does not lease cars, what they do is a smart buy which is similar. The main difference is that the title is in your name as opposed to the bank. And you have the option to buy it during the lease before its over, or after its over, or give it back
STIJibz
oh noes a thread by Precise! the LGT that i follow around like a stalker! may i personally vouch for his system...this kid worked really hard to put it together, and at first i was horrified when i saw MY beloved LGT torn apart, but he actually did it right and it sounds great. the sub is not overwhelming and compliments all diff kinds of music. while i personally prefer the tunes coming out of the EJ255, i love the system and if anyone else is considering the components he chose, i wud def. tell them to go for it. on a side note, i am also the one harassing him to get suspension on this car. ok now im tired. time to stop typing and keep tabs on Precise's LGT
wrasse
Nice job! So does cleansweep come with 2 volume nobs? Is one for volume and other for bass?
Precise
one of the knobs is for the cleansweep and plugs directly into it. The othre knob is plugged into my amp for the subwoofer and i just control sub levels with that.
SUPERBU
Hey I have a couple of questions for you.... Did you have to run the cable for the volume knob down the center of the car? I'm getting ready to install my cleansweep but the cable didn't look very long. I figured if I mounted it in the trunk the volume may not reach the front of the car. One more question... When someone does use the Subaru volume knob by accident does it mess up the calibration? I have an Alpine digital processor from my last car and I'm trying to decide whether or not to use it with the cleansweep. Everyone says the JL EQ is nice and flat but you really have no adjustability. But so far people seem happy with it. Oh ya... I call dibbs on the 500/1 when you sell it!!! msmith
Using the Subaru volume control won't mess anything up... you just return it to the calibration point if someone messed with it. The CleanSweep's correction tables are stored in non-volatile flash memory and are fixed. Once you calibrate the CS, it will not fall out of calibration. You can run the volume cable basically anywhere you want, but down the center is probably a good approach.
Precise
I ran it down the right side. It reached and I had some slack left. The cleansweep comes with an extension and its pretty long. I wanted to run wires down the middle but I couldnt get that carpet to come up. Any ideas on how to do it? If i pull to hard and it comes up will I have to staple it back down? If i pull to hard and it comes up will I have to staple it back down? actually, it's not secured. The issue is that it's molded carpet - you are fighting the shape. Unbolt the driver's seat with a 14mm....four bolts. Leave it plugged in so you don't have to recalibrate the pressure sensor that ties into the ABS. Lift and move the seat forward about six inches. This will reveal the left rear hole for the seat bracket. Stick a finger in and lift up the whole carpet as one piece - it's still tough to work with, but the only way I found to run cables up the middle. I have to do this again soon once I source an RCA-mini cable long enough to reach the front for my iPod. I only had a six footer handy and that wouldn't reach, so I left it on top for now.
