bdub
Hey guys, I just finished my install tonight, so I thought I'd quickly take a couple of shots. The system consists of: 30 GB Ipod and factory CD player JL Audio Cleansweep Phoenix Gold TEQ15 15-band graphic equalizer Phoenix Gold Octane Limited Edition 3-channel amp Focal Utopia 165W3 components MB Quart PWE304 Premium series 12" woofer I love how the door panels turned out and my favorite feature of the whole install is that I still have spare tire access! Thanks for looking! And thanks to Pantagonian GT and msmith for helping me when I was trying to find a Cleansweep.

PGT
Nice jerb!! Phoenix Gold TEQ15 looks like a grey painted EQ-215x I used to run. Good stuff, except the pesky DIY crossover chips. Does the new version have selectable frequency control??
PGT
just saw you used a Quart sub - what are your thoughts on it? Several people have asked my opinion on it, as Crutchfield was a running a special on them, but I've never used one.
suba_rus
Nice! If only I had money, my car wasn't a lease and car in general was a good listening environment were sound quality really matters I would do it for sure ;-)))))

bdub
Thanks for the replies guys. The car seriously sounds great. Such a difference over the POS stock setup. As fun as the LGT is to drive, I'm an audio guy at heart and was getting really frustrated with the lack of good sound. Pantagonian GT: The TEQ15 is just an equalizer and is exactly the same as the older EQ-215 (although not the same as the 215x, which had a x-over section as you mentioned). As for the sub, it's the one portion of the system I'm not completely thrilled with. I made a ~2 square foot ported enclosure and I think I need to do some tinkering. The sub sounds ok, but it loses its suspension control fairly easily. msmith: After a couple days of listening, I've concluded that the Cleansweep is an awesome piece and totally worth the money. It does everything it's advertised to do and seems to have a fairly high S/N ratio. At this point, I'm completely satisfied with it and would recommend it to anyone. Interestingly though, instead of setting the factory volume level at 25 like you did, I had much better results setting it at 20. There was an audible baseline hiss at 25 that disappeared at 20. More pics later today!

PGT
how much power are you sending to the sub? Sounds like the amp has lost it's damping factor at that level, or the sub needs to be in a smaller enclosure (more likely) or different sized port. I've never been a fan of ported enclosures...too much fooling to get them right, though I did have a sweet slot loaded enclosure for three 8W6's (1.8 cu/ft with three separate chambers and ports). JL's tech support line for t3h w1n.

JL's tech support line for t3h w1n. I've actually had a lot of success in the past with ported enclosures. The only issue I've ever had in the past is a little bit of port noise, but generally frequency response and output has been great. I'm sending a clean 400 watts to the sub, so I don't think that's an issue. I think I'll play around with adding/removing fibrefill before I consider modifying the port length. I mean, it's really not that bad right now, and it seems like as the years pass the sub-bass in my vehicles becomes less and less important compared to the front stage. So I'm not hugely concerned about it. I must be getting old!
