Matthew VanSkyock
I just have a question for the site, is a broken 2.5gt engine worth anything? Was told it was a broken rod bearing or crank bearing...???
SoobyDoobyDoo
Nope. You’re better off getting a new short block. Don’t try to get or rebuild one with a spun bearing or broken rod. You’ll just create new problems for yourself in the future. Just scrap it for what it’s worth. Also, rod bearings and crank bearings are the same thing. Matthew VanSkyock
So it hopless to try and sell it the way it is?
SoobyDoobyDoo
You can always try but it’s not advisable to try to rebuild a block like that. If a bearing spun the crank will need to be machined and then use larger bearings, which I don’t think these engines like very much. Is it just the block or do you have heads as well? You might try selling just the heads, might have more luck with that.
Matthew VanSkyock
OK got it, and yes its the hole engine minus the intake is all. Its a tubro version 2.5 with extra left over parts from a engine swap, had to put a 2.0 turbo in instead which sucks car don't pull like it did with the 2.5. m sprank
No one will want a blown engine. I get offered them for free all the time. You might find interest in specific parts from the engine. Possibly the heads. But you will need to remove them and at least visually inspect. Might find a buyer for the intake manifold, TB assembly, TGV's, Wiring harness, etc.
