legacyNMDLexi
What’s good fellas, I have a 2005 legacy 2.5L Gt limited coupe with almost 150k on it. I’ve had it for probably 6-7 years. I plan on driving it till the wheels fall off and I just wanted to see what everyone’s thoughts were on major overhaul type work you’d suggest to extend handling, structural, and engine life. Car is a daily driver and has been showing signs of burning through oil and slight knocking, I think it burn around 3-4 qts within 2k miles. Pleides
Sounds like your engine needs replacement. As mentioned above, there are lots of stickied posts about maintenance on these cars. They're old and getting to be really expensive to buy secondhand with deferred maintenance and whatnot. Not for the faint of heart. Great cars when everything works properly though. I'd start by saving up for a new shortblock. Short of a clogged PCV valve and bad turbo, that much oil consumption is almost certainly piston rings being bad. Good luck and enjoy your stay. sleipnir6
You have a coupe? Agree with Boxkita on researching the stickies and Pleides bout replacing you engine soon. Engine knocking is not a good sign and 3-4qts in 2k miles sounds excessive. Reputable shops to bring your Subie (thread)
