SweetTea41
I'd like to upgrade from a vf40 to a vf46. Problem is I don't know where to get a turbo from. It seems they range from suspiciously cheap ($150) to my car isn't worth that ($1200). There appear to be an intimidatingly large amount of vendors and choices. boxkita
Normally the recommendation would be jmp - https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/mi-jmp-tale-two-20gs-287785.html but your price requirement says used turbo. in which case, what's wrong the $150 turbo? that's the going price on a used one. A low mileage known good will be in the 700-900 range. Cheaping out on a turbo is not really the direction you want to go with a legacy. Everything else, sure. ymmv Build my car Boxkita Track days

rhino6303
what do you think of this listing? https://www.ebay.com/p/725074116That's a turbocharger that is about as good as a paperweight. No ebay turbo will last; they will destroy your motor when they go. https://www.ebay.com/itm/184419697714 This is about as cheap as you're going to get for a used oem turbo. Key word, oem. boxkita
turbo + ebay usually means turbo + reputable dealer + new shortblock. 18 years later, it still costs $10,000 for a reliable engine build. An ebay turbo isn't part of that equation. sorry. Build my car Boxkita Track days

Max Capacity
Back in Aug 2011, I needed a turbo. I knew my vf40 was on its way out. I did my homework. I called Mike at http://www.AZPinstalls.com in NJ early morning the next day, He had the vf52 at my door the next day. That turbo has given me over 160,000 miles of fun. I met up with my Tuner a couple day's later at the dyno, best thing I ever did for the car. These things aren't cheap, but done right will give you many years of joy. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here
