Misfire frustration

Recommended Posts

99 legacy gt wagon - manual

originally in to replace head gaskets

heads rebuilt and head gaskets replaced

new plugs and wires — new timing belt and water pump

picked car up and was still misfiring starting with #2 and eventually misfiring on all cylinders

new egr valve — new ignition control module (twice)

still misfired all cylinders

after 5 returns to first shop, took to another shop (subie dealer)

valves adjusted to spec - way out at previous shop

compression test 90% - leakdown ok

FLOW ON INJECTORS OK PER DEALER

got car back - drove 800 miles all good

today per scan tool now misfire on #4 (highway speed)

had flashing cel for 5 seconds - now on solid

car tends to sit for months without running (i have 2 addresses)

latest misfire in single digit temps with 4 month old gas

no power loss - no overheating

any ideas?

cars dont like this, unless you can keep it inside.

Have you replaced the coil pack, or at least tested it? you say ignition control module, is that a tomato tuhmahtoe situation?
