02 2.5 Auto Legacy swap to 96 Manual Legacy

I have an Automatic 2002 Legacy Wagon that has a junk trans, car has a 2.5l engine. I also own a Manual 1996 Legacy Wagon, with a 2.2l. The engine and body from the 2.2 are trashed. My question is what all is required to perform the swap, specifically related to the wiring? I have done some reading and know that I will need to figure out rear diff ratios and that's not a big deal. My largest concern is that I don't know what to do with the TCM or what specifically I will have to change in the wiring to make all of this work and was wondering if anyone could give some insight. I have access to Mitchell wiring diagrams for the car but they don't call out any pin information. I also believe that the bell housing bolt patterns are the same but would love confirmation of that. Any help is greatly appreciated.
