masta jer
I went from 3157 stock bulbs to a 3157 LED bulbs. As soon as I turned the car lights on all my fuses blew. Now I have No parking lights, blinkers or hazards. Fixed all fuses and tried again. Still all popped. How can I fix this? I've read something about wiring for CK bulbs, but I dont know what that means. And, I don't know how to do that... Front bulbs are the only ones I'm trying to change at the moment. JMack
Did you buy CK bulbs? If so, you may have found your problem. I can't find anything saying that the Legacy has CK wiring for any of the bulbs. I have looked, but I am NOT 100% sure that I am correct. Sounds to me like you ordered and / or received the wrong bulbs. If you have CK bulbs, it will kill everything that you are describing.

masta jer
I prettysurei didnt buy ck bulbs. I dont even know what ck is. I just read that I may have to wire for ck in random places. Idk. Ill have to check, but im almost positive I bought replacement bulbs specifically for my car
JMack
I don't believe that the Legacy is a CK wired car. You can check with a multimeter or trouble light like in the link provided by @SubOperator

masta jer
So, let's say I bought the right bulbs for my car. How do I fix my problem then? What would cause all my lights/fuses to pop/burnout?
whitexc
Remove all new bulbs. Replace fuses. Install one at a time. Maybe you have a bad bulb..... Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
SubOperator
when you say "all my lights/fuses" do you actually means ALL lights/fuses or some specific ones that protect lights? What happens when you replace you blown fuses and plug in regular OEM bulbs? 2005 LGT Wagon Limited 6 MT RBP Stage 2 - 249K 2007 B9 Tribeca Limited DGM - 272K SOLD - 2005 OB Limited 5 MT Silver - 245K SOLD - 2010 OB 6 MT Silver - 205K
csaari
My 2005 actually does have 3157 CK sockets for the front turn signals. I found that out years ago when I tried to put in regular 3157 LEDs, and started blowing fuses. I'm not an electrical expert, but the pins are arranged differently between regular 3157 and the 3157 CK bulbs, as shown in the link provided above. When there's an incandescent bulb in the socket, no big deal, but when you put a 3157 LED in a 3157 CK socket, or vice versa I guess, it doesn't work. I've heard of people taking a 3157 LED bulb and physically bending the pins to rearrange them to the CK format, but I would think it would be easier to just buy the CK bulbs. The CKs are a little hard to find, but they are out there. I am currently using these: https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/miniature-and-subminiature-bulbs/3156-3157-ck-led-bulb-dual-function-27-smd-led-tower-wedge-retrofit/3557/ and they are very bright and work well. As has already been suggested, I would replace the blown fuse(s), put the non LEDs back in, and make sure everything is good. Then you can get a set of 3157 CK LEDs. killjoy323232
I could be wrong, but I think certain LED bulbs have built-in circuitry to switch between CK and non-CK sockets. Morimoto's X-VF bulbs come to mind, and Profile's Peak 3157 (what I'm running) do, too. I'm actually thinking of switching to the Morimoto bulbs...they are pricy, but can be ordered as switchbacks with a fade-on function, like you see on many new European cars. Just my 0.02. From Morimoto's site, to shed a bit of light (heh) on why the fuses might be blowing...
Infosecdad
Why on earth would you engineer something like that? Reverse the wiring, but use the exact same socket...

From Morimoto's site, to shed a bit of light (heh) on why the fuses might be blowing... I might be an oddity but I had two X-VF switchbacks fail on me without a few weeks of each other. When I say fail, I mean they literally fell apart inside the headlight housing and I had to take the headlights out to fish out all the little pieces. They were only about 6 months old and were replaced under warranty but I switched back to a regular halogen which have been fine for over a year now. If you do buy them, don't wait around to install them, you want the full year warranty in operation in case anything happens. EDIT: I don't know about the ck base issue, when the retailer asked me I said I had been putting in regular bulbs (true) but I haven't replaced them in my 2005 yet, just the 2007. I will check when they need to be replaced and I'll update here as I think my 2005 is very early (no cabin filter etc.) Edited October 21, 2021 by lagwagon

masta jer
So, I know I said all lights and fuses. My bad. I was rushing with my response. The light/fuses that went are all my parking lights (front and back) blinkers, turn signals, and hazards. Even my dashboard doesn't show my blinker arrow working at all. I blew 3 fuses definitely, not not sure of more at the moment. My dashboard even popped up the wording "run change mode check system." Something along those lines. Sorry, I've been really busy lately. I decided to just make an appointment with Subaru to fix my problem along with so.e other stuff I've needed to get dont for a few years now but have been holding off. Solenoid issues (to much boost, never). Lol. I really do appreciate everybody helping out though. I've definitely looked into many of these issues personally as I read them all. Unfortunately, I dont have the time to fix it on my own anymore. Life gets a bit crazy a bit too often. I will post what the exact issue was as soon as its fixed though. And, after its fixed ill be installed LED fog light that can change any color through my phone. Im thinking that'll blow some fuses too. Lmao
Zac88
I had the same problem when I didnt buy CK bulbs, buy the proper bulbs and you wont blow any fuses.
