Mr. Electric Wizard
Fellas, I am about to get my car tuned and get all the last minute stuff buttoned up beforehand. My clutch is at the end of its life and I will need the help replacing it soon. Do any of you have any clutch recommendations for me? My tuner mentioned ACT, and I know a bunch of Subie YT folks love these as well. I believe the OEM clutch is Exedy. A buddy of mine says that I should look into getting a Stage 3 clutch. Any recommendations? Thinking about going with this one: https://www.rallitek.com/clutch-kits/9667-clutchmasters-fx300-wrx-2006-2013.html Edited August 9, 2021 by Mr. Electric Wizard
Bobsyouruncl
https://www.maperformance.com/products/subaru-sti-2004-2015-act-heavy-duty-clutch-kit-sb10-hdss A friend had this and decided not to use it and sold it to me for a good price so I put it on mycar. I can't speak to it's holding power yet as I'm waiting to be tuned. I can say however that it's buttery smooth and I love the pedal feel and engagement. I've also heard great things about ACT clutches from some tuners.
Mr. Electric Wizard
Did you get a flywheel with your kit? I've heard the stock one is poo.
shralp
Running this in my track car with a single mass flywheel and have been very happy. Unless your pushing big power or doing 5k rpm stoplight clutch dumps this should be plenty.
Bobsyouruncl
Did you get a flywheel with your kit? I've heard the stock one is poo. I ended up getting the Subaru OEM flywheel for 04-19 STI, it's the single mass as well. I call ACT and they confirmed for me that this flywheel, or their light weight version, was correct for my application (6 speed) . Worst case call them or your vendor and they can help you confirm what you need on your car.
Max Capacity
I agree, call the company and talk with the experts. I enjoy the Spec 2+ clutch and Spec LWFW in my wagon. I will say that going to the SMFW, I did run a 07-09 FW in the wagon for a short time, you lose that low rpm drivability. Whereas the Spec B will drive fine in 6th gear at 40mph. Still on stock setup. The wagon will need to be in 4th gear at that speed. It doesn't like being in 5th at that speed. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Mr. Electric Wizard
Do you guys trust MAP performance? They're not vendors on this site. Was going to call them regarding clutch recommendations. I've heard nothing but good stuff about ACT clutches. Just not sure which flywheel to get.
