AllynCo
Hi all, I recently bought an 05 Legacy GT limited with 115k miles. This is my first car with a turbo. The motor sounds and feels great (no smoke coming from either the exhaust or the engine), but there are 2 main issues other than needing to do the timing belt, water pump, and spark plugs. There's an oil leak from a bolt on top of the turbo housing and oil is pooling atop the turbo (again, no smoke either from inside the engine or out of the exhaust). Photo here: I also noticed some oil pooling near the intercooler. Any ideas as to why this might occur? Photo here: Thank you very much! Max Capacity
Welcome to the Forum. The oil feed banjo has two crush type washers that seal the connection. I think they are 10mm crush washers. You can replace them. The second picture, may be a bit more of a hint of a bigger issue coming. You shouldn't have that much oil vapor in that area. For now you can replace that spring type clamp with a screw type clamp. But I suspect you have oil blowing through the tmic and getting pushed oil that connection. Make sure you check your oil level and always top it off. Never, Never let it get low on oil. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here
