How to remove MAF sensor 1997 GT

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd be able to pull out the MAF sensor and clean it by removing the 4 small phillips screws that holds it in the housing however the sensor does not come out, there is resistance. Is there something else internally holding the sensor unit? My other option is just to pull out the whole housing around the MAF sensor. Just wondering if the sensor does come out after removing the screws or not. Thanks!

Its built into the tube that exits the air cleaner housing and connects to the intake. You should be able to loosen the large band clamp from the MAF tube to intake and then open the air cleaner box (like you are changing air filter) and lift up the backing of the air cleaner container which has the tube with the MAF in it.
