Mr.E.Mushroom
I have a 97 legacy which I recently purchased. I tried to start it in fairly cold weather (-30 c) to bring into shop to change out the clutch. When cranking to start the battery went dead and shorted out, it almost started before battery died. I replaced the battery and had no crank, I bypassed clutch safety switch thinking it might be that, but still nothing. I jumped the starter and got it to turn over but no start. I have spark but no fuel pump, checked all the fuses and they were good. Also since the no start the key fab marker lights blink on and off. I also checked for engine codes and had none, I also plugged it in. lol Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Brighton96
Is there an aftermarket security system or remote start installed? Seems like something is deliberately immobilizing it.
Mr.E.Mushroom
Why yes there seems to be some after market wiring in it!.
Brighton96
Why yes there seems to be some after market wiring in it!. It's going to be hard to find out where all the wires go that it attaches to, but if the system isn't used anymore, remove it as best as you can, or at minimum remove any control units for it. I had a similar situation with two cars I've had, cheapo security system failed or became enabled and caused a no start issue. The control boxes can usually just get unplugged and that's enough to test the theory (assuming you can actually find the control box.)
