Lord-Gravel
Hello all, I have a 2007 Subaru Liberty 2.5 Automatic, have loved the car but a few weeks ago a humming noise started. The noise only appears when going about 60km and gets louder as you speed up. Completely Speed related - does not change with the engine revs. Does not make the noise when idling in park, drive neutral or reverse. Doesn't seem to make the noise loud if the car is cold, but noise is still there. I have put the car up onto stands and got up to highway speed and the noise seems to be coming from the gearbox region. it is not any of the wheel bears as I have replaced all of them. in short, I am at the point of just getting another gearbox to see if it will stop the noise. has anyone had any experiences with this? Max Capacity
Grab the drive shaft/propeller shaft on either side of the carrier bearing and see hw much movement you have. There shouldn't be to much. If you need, I got a drive shaft with replaceable U joints from The Driveshaft Store out of CA. There are a few of us with there products on here. see post # 298 https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/idea-web-links-saved-various-parts-219238p8.html 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs.
