What did you do to your 7th Gen Legacy today?

Recommended Posts

Other models have this kind of thread so I figured why not here as well. Doesn't have to be from today precisely but just what you did to or with it recently.

I'll start[emoji16], "installed" some 3m clear film on my headlights to keep them in pristine condition. Worked well on my other 20+ year old cars.

Can't see it, but it's on haha.5a030aa8c5808788e363b6a9aef95b9d.jpg

Not just in the 2020s, happened to me in my 2019 too. Twice. This replacement is a aftermarket not OEM and so far...knock on wood...so good. But it's only been ~10 months.

I'm hoping there is an aftermarket one available. Waiting till spring otherwise it'll probably happen again soon.

I got mine done at Safelite. They will probably do aftermarket for you as well. You could always call them up and ask them. Not a bad idea to wait until spring, both times mine cracked were mid winter.

Hit a chunk of ice the other day that was just a tad taller than the ground clearance. The plastic belly pan didn't like that and it now has a rip in it.

Was looking around for some aftermarket aluminum skid plates and all of them were for the Outback.

But there is a Subaru OEM skid plate in either aluminum or steel, was listed for the Outback as well but turns out it fits the Legacy too, so I ordered the painted steel one. Let's see how it holds up. I'll update once I get it.

Got a micro USB so I can have another music choice and not block that small storage space with a full size one. Got a trunk organizer as well. Pleasant surprise as I noticed the back of my rear seats are rubber vs carpet. That will be great if they are down and I'm hauling something.

The windshield debate was going on a few years back when I had my 17. Needed a new one and my insurance provided a Subaru one. On #2, Safelite came out with an after market. I did not even get it calibrated, it worked fine.

This purchase the dealer warned me about after market windshields etc (they have coverage for 1000 bucks) and my insurance company says its no issue, we cover that. The dealer was adamant they have had multiple problems with after market products, insurance companies and I bet they have. However I did not buy the Subaru plan. My insurance company stated they insure thousands of Subaru's and all is good..... I know they partner with safelite..

He was trying to make a sale. Have aftermarket on my 2019 (after going through 2 OEM ones) and Eyesight works perfectly after being re-calibrated for the new windshield. No issues with it at all. Just need to see if it will hold up without cracking, it's only been about 10 months so far.

Installed the skid plate today, instructions were pretty garbage so there was some guessing involved. Took about 2.5h, seems worth the $178 Cad I paid.

The plastic pan has some ducting on both sides whereas the steel one has the slots covered, might cut some holes in it if it gets too hot in summer.PXL_20201114_234020883.thumb.jpg.b6d8f101d24f766feac891af51bb06bb.jpg

You can order it directly from the Subaru parts department, part number is in the 2nd pic!

"E515SAN010"

There is also an aluminum one available but it's more $$$.

I have the Subaru rubber / winter type mats but they are not really up to speed. Trunk mat is great however and middle row is fine. Ordered Weathertec for front.

Also noticed a really nice option in the car. The back of the rear seats is rubber/mat type material. Makes sense if you have the seats down and are hauling something that may harm the typical carpet that is there.....

Curious on the sound of your exhaust. I have a XT and wouldn't mind some rumble, but nameless tend to be on the louder side?
