ekwilson08
So I built my motor about 8k ago, using sti crankshaft, eagle rods, manley pistons. and king bearings. new subaru oil pump Engine is running strong and clean no issues there. I just installed an oil pressure gauge and i have a few questions. so today its 85 degrees out when i let for work this morning and on engine start my gauge is at 90 psi. by the time i get to work about 10 minutes at idle im around 17 ish. but lets say i go and do some highway driving for extended period of time or go and do a few pulls or just driving back roads is where i think i may have a problem, after those scenarios my oil pressure at idle is like 10-12 psi. If i bump the rpm to like 1k i shoot up to like high 20s almost 30. is this normal? or do i have a issue? the oil im running right now is lucas oil 5w-40. awfulwaffle
Startup pressure checks out to me. My car idles hot at 750 RPM @ 25 psi on 5W40, but it's an OEM block. Where'd you set clearances at? Oil pressure look good on power?

Max Capacity
How does that oil stack up in the ratings ? Is it known to break down sooner then other oils ? We know Mobil 1 5w-30 breaks down to a 5w-20 fairly quickly. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Notorious
What gauge are you using? Mechanical or electric? And where was it tapped and where was it grounded? A bad ground on an electrical gauge can cause readings to be off.

ekwilson08
Just changed my oil with liqui moly 5w-40 and oil pressure is way better at all temps. Maybe the lucas was a lower viscosity then rated not sure Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
