Too Many Toys
The more I look at the back side of my LGT sedan the more I want to remove the chrome lettering "SUBARU" "Legacy GT" etc. I looked at the letters fairly close this afternoon and it appears they are just fastened to the trunk with double sticky stuff. The only thing I could not asser-tain (pun intended) is whether there are any holes that the factory uses to index the letters. My reasons for wanting to unlabel the car are two fold... I really like the clean stealth look and I know that waxing around those damn things is going to be a PITA. Any of you long time Subie drivers peeled these off and did you have any suprises?? I was looking at wheels today also... I am thinking 18X7.5. The kid at the import goodie store said a 48 back spacing would would fine on the new Legacy... I am thinking 225-40-18 Proxes T1-S for tires... any thoughts or advise??? I think some better tires will help the car corner better. There is a lot to learn about AWD cars and handling/suspension.... I probably will be looking at some stiffer anti-sways... and possibly lowering the car (just a little) if it won't hose up the ride quality and other dynamics.. I'd really like to tweek that a little. ( curb speed 8) ) Thanks!! Don
brady_bunch
Removing the lettering is referred to as "debadging" and is easy to do: http://www.legacysti.com/viewtopic.php?t=1209 http://www.legacysti.com/viewtopic.php?t=995 Tires: http://www.legacysti.com/viewtopic.php?t=138 http://www.legacysti.com/viewtopic.php?t=1193 http://www.legacysti.com/viewtopic.php?t=
Th3Franz
I'm kind of torn as to whether or not I will debadge. I'm proud to finally own a Subaru, but I do like the look with some of the badging removed. I'll see what I decide.. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
agctr
Hmm not sure myself either to be honest. I didnt really pay too much attention to the rear of the 3.0R Spec B when I was there on Saturday but you could always debadge and replace with STi ??? John M
My plans are to remove "Subaru" and "Legacy", leaving only the Subaru emblem and "2.5 GT" to make people wonder :D
DAP
I just left the emblem. If people can't figure out what kind of car it is from the emblem, they don't need to know. Has anyone found a way to remove the leagaleese from the sun visors? I'm on a mission to remove as much text as possible from the car. It is a CAR, not a book or an advertizing brocure. Keep the text in the owners manual.

I thought about that same thing today when I debadged the car. I removed everything but the 2.5 GT and thought it looked out of place.. so I finished the job. Thanks all for the great info. It was a simple chore and the sticky residue cleaned right off with the goo gone stuff... Put a fresh coat of wax on it's backside and you could never tell there was anything stuck before. dresden
I have always been for debadging.. but I have actually considered buying "AWD" to put under the "SUBARU" lettering on the back. It may even it out, but more importantly, if I need a tow... they will know it's all-wheel-drive.

Too Many Toys
DM, That looks great... I really wish my car did NOT have the rear deck spoiler.... I am going to look into removing it... hope repairing the holes and matching the black paint wont be a total PITA!
nicd
Do it I am very happy with the result, rather than using the goof-off which is a pretty strong solvent remove the adhesive by finger it rolls off the the car paint and put some liquid polish and it buffs right off to a seemless finish:
axis008
DM, I never knew Garnet Red could look so good! It looks really clean--I like it. nicd--I think you have the first car without any emblems at all (well minus the Subaru oval)! From what I've seen at least. It's not bad. I'll probably end up doing that to my sedan. Is it just me or does nicd's car look like it has a tinge of green? -ben
nicd
The car is not green :P I just had to up the exposure on the picture because it was a little dark to sii the spots where the badging was. But for my car just the bilstein sticker(well pehaps) like many of the JDM cars.
SC GT
I never really gave debadging too much thought. But after trying to clean out the residual wax build up in the S U B A R U on the trunk of my '95 Impreza LX, I'm going to seriously consider it when I get my LGT.
