COVID-19 - who's got some?

I just made my (hopefully) last doctor/specialist visit post-COVID last week or two. I'm getting to the point where I can do prolonged cardio and lifting weight above my head, but the gym does still kick my ass and it's not the sort of ass-kicking I get when out of shape. My lungs are scarred and I don't know how much better they're gonna get :(

Doesn't surprise me one bit. The most hardcore of antivaxxers I know are of this age. The younger ones in that age range also had some delays getting vaccinated compared to the older people in that group, I believe.

I hope you continue to improve. I'm at 21 months of Long COVID and still can't do a pullup or run. I spent an hour cleaning out the van yesterday and can barely walk today. Good thing the pandemic is over and everyone can go back to "normal"... :spin:

Wishing you guys the best. Hopefully the effects of this family of viruses will lead to a better understanding of the immune system…that people talk about like it’s one thing…it’s more complicated than traffic.

Definitely a lot of folks with long-covid - wish that could get sorted out.  Been fortunate thus far that my friends whom have had it, while some had a pretty rough go, no one has that.  There's supposed to be a revised vaccine more effective against the current strains this fall...  so it really does look like it's going to be another flu shot like thing...  we're back to masking at work which is sort of a drag, but what are you going to do.

Son did good with his first shot (Moderna). Beside that he was mad at me for the rest of the day. They stuck it in his thigh. Lucky he was already strapped in his car seat. I just hold his leg while they injected it. He is getting his second shot when we come back from our Disney/Beach trip.

Today marks two weeks since my symptoms took off, and I’m feeling pretty much back to normal now aside from  a lingering cough. Also haven’t tried an exhaustive workout yet bc I can feel I’m still low energy.

My bout with it was a terrible experience though, had every symptom except loss of taste/smell. Massive headaches, terrible body pain esp my legs, fever and sweating, loss of appetite and lost almost 10lbs. At 6-7 days in I thought I needed to go to the hospital, anxiety was peaking, but I pulled through.

I’m not vaxed, but I’m clean and cautious, wish I had been vaxed in hindsight.

Glad you're doing better, and hopefully no longterm issues. I got it back in mid may and was heavily fatigued for about a day and a half. What was weird was that I didn't develop a cough until I tested negative again, and it lingered for a month. The one positive from it all was that I had to quarantine for 10 days, so I got to take a break from the kids and nap anytime I damn well pleased (CDC rec changed to 5 days after I was done lol)

Thank you sir. I’ve been very curious how others handle it since my run in.

And my sleep came with terrible sweating, I’d wake up every 3-4hrs needing to change clothes. Didn’t make for the best rest.

Just glad it seems to be over with. I’ve tested negative 8x over the last 2.5yrs to be able to do things and be cautious with family/friends. I’ll be getting the shots once I’m clear though.

If it's any consolation, I was triple vaxxed when I got it and I had all the same symptoms as you, plus severe nausea and also lost about ten pounds (and I don't have much to spare). I do think getting vaxxed saved me from a hospital trip but who knows. I hope you recover well. I'm 23 and I'm on month 7 of random breathing issues. I also have severely reduced levels of testosterone.

Do you have asthma or any heart problems? It seems like the evidence that people with a history for cardiovascular issues (lotta heart issues on my dad's side, plus I've had random chest pains since I was young) will have harder bouts of COVID is becoming more prominent.

I feel like that’s the key with the vaccine, it’ll at least lessen the impact. I suppose had you not had the shots, who knows what your experience would have been. Had I been vaxed maybe it’s 3-4 days of being sick, and relatively speaking no big deal.

Interestingly, I’m adopted and just this year I found my biological father. He had severe covid JUST prior to meeting me. Worse case for him, double lung pneumonia and double lung infection, went to the hospital and somehow made it off a ventilator, but lost 30lbs and he’s now into a 4 month recovery. Also not vaccinated, but a very health 63yr old man. Again idk why I didn’t get the shots… I do not know my mothers health history unfortunately.

I think I’m gonna be fine though. I honestly feel pretty well recovered. I’m over 40 now, but I’ve been taking very good care of myself for almost 20yrs (healthy diet and exercise routines, lots of GFs (giggity),no wife or kids). My blood work looked great two years ago, but I do appreciate the idea of getting that checked again.

My son daycare is shut down this week. It took one child that spread COVID to the daycare last week. My son was tested negative yesterday.

I can't get the second dose of vaccine for my son I called everywhere and none of them have Moderna there is a huge shortage one it world wide.

Update: Finally got the second dose (Moderna) scheduled for today for the little one. Little one is still been avoiding daycare. Probably be sending him back after Thanksgiving since the little one and wife is flying out of the country next week.
