VDC/ABS Lights/AT Oil Temp

Recommended Posts

All,

Curious if anyone has had experience with the below warning lights going off...

AT Oil Temp, VDC, & Brake, mainly. No drivability issues.

They were consistently coming on for like a month or so, so I brought it to my local subie dealer.

They returned with Hydraulic traction control/ABS controller. $1100 part.

After that they stated they were having trouble getting the 'brake' warning light to turn off so suggested replacing another controller/sensor which works in conjunction with the already replaced part. $300 or so. This was after 2 weeks of trying to diagnose and fix the problem. Also, my passenger mirror motor is disabled...

Last Friday I pick up the car, 5 miles from the shop all warning lights which were on before picking the vehicle up are on again. Dropped it back off before they closed, they gave me another loaner. We're now 3 more working days in and no word.

Anyone have anything to add/suggest?

Get the opinion of another shop. All the warning lights coming on 5 miles down the road sounds like they cleared the engine codes right before you picked it up.

You can also have autozone or a similar shop read the engine codes on your car. If you know the codes there are owners on this forum that may have had them before.

wow. last post was November 6!!!

Thanks for your input, but I didn't have time to mess with it, so just rode it out with the dealer. They have been more than honorable about the whole thing.

So, I let them have their way with it, they replaced a few more transmission controllers (both blew), shortly after I returned it on the 6th, they stated I would not be charged any more money, and the loner is free. Still driving one now.

After 2 months plus they found a junction under the rear speaker shelf for the taillight wiring harness had some corrosion. Reviewing the schematics it appears the ground for the taillights is similar or connected to the ground for the wheel sensors.

Tech is driving it home tonight and back as a test for daily driving to confirm.

I'm planning on asking to see the junction, see how bad the corrosion is...

Curious if you guys think I should keep it or sell it. corroded wire harness which shouldn't be exposed to moisture is a little odd and concerning.

I'm pretty much done with it either way, by fall I will by a model 3. Any vehicle I use will be doing the A to B circuit 5 times a week, technically, I don't even need the range of the standard range model 3.
