Led conversion

I was afraid the 5k would not be "white" enough, but after seeing this and knowing it will be close the the lights on the Forester I feel better. I'll try to get some pics tonight of before and then compare to after.

You must remember there are a few differences.

1) The HIDs are 35W retrofits with HID projectors in them. The headlight was a 10-12 OEM light, protected by a 3M clear coat

2) the LEDs are in the OEM H7 projectors. The headlight was a 13-14 facelift also protected by a 3M clear coat

3) the LEDs are 3000LM, they don't even sell the 3500 which is an upgrade. Its now at 4500LM which I really would like to put in. Its brighter and shines further than the 55W HID kits .

Honestly I like the VLEDs more. They are cheaper, shine just as far and I don't lose the functionality of my auto headlights.

So, I checked how the headlights are currently aimed yesterday after work and according to the Subaru procedure, they are 1-2 inches higher than they should be.

Per the procedure:

10' from a wall

Measure the height of the headlight

Mark that measurement on the wall

The cutoff should be .83" below that mark

I think for sure the driver's side will need to be lowered. The top of the tape is at the same level as the midpoint of the low beam (about 27 1/4"). The pic is with the factory bulbs.

I got tired of replacing the bulbs in our OB and Legacy. I got a set that fits nicely with a lot of room . I put a set from this company (different bulb size) in my 2019 Impreza and they are working nicely.

Install was just as fun as changing a regular bulb. What is nice is they are pretty small so all you have to do is plug in the harness and tuck it back inside the light. Everything is contained in the bulb housing so there is nothing bulky to work with.

Installed the bulbs last night. After fighting trying to go through the fender well we pulled the bumper and took the headlight assemblies off the car. The spring tab that holds the bulb down didn’t want to go around the fan enclosure. It was much easier with the headlights off.

Left factory bulb, right VLEDS 5K

VLEDS got installed while doing oil change at local Toyota dealership. Like them so far.

Still on the fence if I should go with LED fog lights from Ford.

Let me help push you off the fence... yes, you should get the LED fogs.:)

How you liking the VLEDS so far?

I'm loving the color and they do seem brighter. It was a pain for the install, and they better never burn out. :)

Now I'm really on the lookout for deer or a dump truck, ect. on the highway.

Hey brother. I’m new here but I just bought a pair of the VLEDs. What made the install a pain? I see it was easier to take the bumper off. I’ll try to do these and adding fogs today.

Definitely recommend taking the bumper off for the install. Doing these through the fender liner will be nearly impossible, and the bumper only takes about 10 minutes to remove.

Put in the VLEDs as well as these fogs today! It definitely would’ve been a pain without the bumper off. Thankful for this thread [emoji1687]
