2006 LGT engine rebuild

Recommended Posts

So the actual rebuild happen at the end of 2017 beginning of 2018 but with everything going on in life I didn't really get a chance to post on here for anyone to be a part of the experience, though I imagine a lot of you have been in similar situations lol thus is the life of a subaru owner.

I'm still quite new to the whole forum and posting thing so my page won't be nearly as pretty as everyone elses, but I'm doing my best.

Started off by pulling the engine, first time I've ever had to do anything like this so I was a bit nervous. You can see in one of the photo's following that I taped everything and labeled it with connecting numbers so I knew where everything needed to go.

Bought all the parts I needed (lets be real... wanted)

and then it was a long process of rebuilding everything, I of course needed to request help from a guy that I met at our local subaru club and he was absolutely fantastic, helped me from start to finish with all of it. I'm very grateful to have had his assistance.

Got everything wired up and slammed back into the expensive pig that is my soulmate and started following engine break in procedures until I was able to get it tuned. All in all (I'll do my best to remember) I believe the list of kit I acquired for the car was.

- Accessport

- IAG Stage 1+ shortblock

- remachined heads

- IAG air oil separator competition series

- Perrin air filter

- Grimm Speed lightweight crank pulley

- Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit

- VF37 Twin scroll turbo setup

- LaChute performance downpipe

- Drilled and slotted rotors with new brakes (cause stopping is a must)

more pictures to follow because I'm getting error messages trying to upload, I hope you enjoy :)

I like the ideal of a Stage 1 block, How do you like it? Also was it straight forward? I have a silver 06 5MT and have So many parts (I wanted Not needed) I plan on taking it to the shop that are masters and they have a dyno and the tuner I want.

I am older and care less about power, but I really like the IAG stage 1. I also do want good power.

I absolutely love it, I couldn't be any happier with the IAG parts that I ended up going with. I'll continue to give them my business where I can, doing the IAG comp series engine mounts next cause mine just went to hell lol

I can't find the picture or remember precisely what I made on the dyno but it's somewhere around 290-300 ft-lbs of torque and nearly the same for HP
