Transmission fill plug

Recommended Posts

I noticed a leak of transmission fluid in a 2014 Subaru Legacy. I check under and it looks like the the transmission fluid fill plug is broken. The top half of the threads are gone. Is it possible to put a longer transmission fill plug bolt in to reach those inner threads? The two broken pieces were attached loosely. The dealer ship would.

Wait, the picture shows the broken female threads, is the case broken ?

You might get lucky by just wrapping the male threads of the plug with Teflon pipe tape like you would do the NPT. Nation Pipe Thread, which is used in plumbing.
