Spark plug tube seals: Why can't Subaru fix this?

Recommended Posts

Even on an engine with port injection where the fuel acts as a solvent to dissolve the oil build up on the intake you can still have issues. Oil has the effect of lowering the octane rating of the fuel than ends up in the cylinder.

Oh, of course. You’d likely just be less apt to have carbon buildup in the intake ports and on the backs of the intake valves. You’re right that regardless of injection strategy, if you’ve got a ton of oil getting into your intake stream, you’re gunna have a bad time.

My point — which probably got lost in my rant — was that a catch can is a bandaid at best and a waste of money and a potential vacuum leak at worst. If you’ve got a bunch of blowby, you should address it.

Well those were the explanations and facts I really appreciate to hear from some more experienced folks.

I guess the tube seals and valve cover gaskets will just be added to the list of to do’s, along with the throw out bearing/clutch kit.

I appreciate your guy’s insight.
