Passenger Seat Slider Cable Broken

HI everyone! I am new to the forums and have searched for the last few hours and cannot find this problem, so I'm hoping for some answers. 2012 Outback - the passenger seat slider cable that moves the seat front and back snapped off when something got stuck under the seat and my friend pulled it out. Dealer says $2,000 to fix because it's connected to the air bag. Holy canoli. Can I take this to an import service place to have the part replaced? right now its in the forward position, so only little tiny people can ride up front. The rest of my adult size friends have to sit in the back while I drive them around. What can I do?
