2011boostdwrx Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 I don't want the tips super tucked so I am looking for an exhaust that will fit and fill out the rear bumper, I don't care if it is tucked a little just not totally under the car.
Max Capacity Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Custom. No one has a system for these cars. HKS used to have a wagon exhaust with longer tips, but I haven't been able to find that part number in a while. FWIW, I was talking with Chase of GS last Fall about this issue. They are toying with making a Legacy GT exhaust. I mentioned that it would be nice if they sold the mufflers without tips. Then offer a selection of tips that will fit on the wagons longer bumper as well as a selection of tips for sedans. The buyer could chose to have GS weld on the tips or have there own welder to it. I haven't heard anything since last Fall. Here's some old mufflers I had made up back in 2012. they lasted about 5 years. I still have the Dyna Max tips, the mufflers were magna flow knock off's. Most exhaust shops can make you a system that will sound good. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). Infosecdad Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 It’s going to have to be a USDM wagon spec exhaust then What kind of look/sound are you wanting?
awfulwaffle Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 FWIW, this is what wagon length AVO Turboworld mufflers, with a Perrin mid and y-pipe, look like. The difference between these and the regular mufflers is an extension between the muffler and the tips that is about the length of the protrusion. Can't confirm, but it seems to me that the regular AVO exhaust might be just the right length to tuck right into the cutouts and not protrude.
ashwinearl Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 When one customizes an exhaust for a wagon, how is it usually done? Do you pick a muffler can and reuse the stock components? like the catback mid pipe and Y pipe? If the tips are not adjustable, can they still fit a wagon to minimize drone? I saw some JDM ones that had adjustable tips for fine tuning fitment.
Max Capacity Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Post 2 shows some of the answers. My wagon currently has the OEM mid pipe from my Spec B to the mufflers from the Pro Lab Tuning exhaust I bought years ago for $270. I do still have the Dyna Max tips shown in post 2. Sometime soon I have to decide to go to a shop and have them fab up some mufflers to mate to the stock mid pipe and weld on the Dyna Max tips. Which were 12" long but cut down to just clear the bumper. Here's the Dyna Max tips installed. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).
