ripstik Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 years back i would often post about my nav and how it randomly loses power, while I'm driving, parked, whenever. hardly any consistency on how it goes off or comes back on. I stopped posting about that after realizing that no one else was having even similar issue, mind you that this started happening in my first year of ownership and the issue has only gotten worse. well it recently has developed an interesting new tick, if the nav is on at the time, when i put the car in reverse i get 1 of 5 reactions. 1. it turns on the backup camera like normal 2. it turns on the back up camera but there are shadow lines running horizontally 3. the nav just goes black 4. the nav goes black but has the gren/yellow/red lines in place 5. the nav screen flashes from black to video to pink chaotically.... i know I'm probably pissing into the wind over here but has anyone else had such an issue? or any issue with their nav they can rant about to make me feel better.
Falcor Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Honestly, it's the worse NAV I've ever used. I feel I need a manual every time I use it. I'll use my phone if I really need directions. One of my longer term plans is to get a Bluetooth Carplay head unit. I've never had the issues you are talking about, but I feel for you.
cww516 Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 I used to have problems with mine losing power, but they disappeared completely when I replaced my dead OEM boost gauge and harness with a Podi unit. Whatever the problem was, it was in the boost gauge tee harness between the dash harness and the head unit, or in one of the connectors.
Scooby Fan Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 We have a 2012 Legacy 2.5i LTD. with nav.....without a doubt the worst system ever.....similar problems to what you have plus it could NOT find it's own ass using both hands!! I complained constantly to the dealership when the car was new but they mostly just politely ignored me...on one visit I challenged to service manager to come for a ride with me to see how bad it was. I think he went simply to shut me up once and for all......We weren't 10 minutes into our test drive when he said "OK lets go back...we'll replace the entire unit. " The entire nav/stereo unit was replaced and is now just as bad as ever but newer It is my wife's car and she would never be able to use the nav or rely on it so I bought her a Garmin to use when needed....seldom ever used but at least she can rely on the Garmin.........The nav in the 2012's was just a total POS!! I have a 2013 3.6R LTD. and the nav in it is easy to use and reliable!
