ffleggy
So I just bought a 1990 Legacy for $500 for a daily beater. The car doesnt look pretty but she drives fine and has under 150k assuming the odometer can be trusted. I just cleaned 29 years of oil and road grime off the engine to see if she's leaking anywhere and began to notice oil buildup on top of the front of the passenger-side head. Today when I got home I opened the hood to and saw she was bubbling what looks like oil mixed with at least a little bit of coolant from this open bolt/screw hole on top of the head. I have no idea what this hole is for and it seems to be unused on all the other 90-94 legacies I see at the junkyard. Here's a youtube link to video from today:
wtdash
Yeah..that's strange. I'd guess that either the 'boss' or mount there wore thru or maybe was drilled thru for whatever reason? Is it threaded? If so, I'd put a bolt in it. If it's indeed oil AND coolant that's an issue, I'd think. If it's not overheating and there's no oil+ coolant in the radiator overflow then maybe no problem.
