andrewchesebro
I have 2005 Subaru legacy 2.5i and I got it 2 weeks ago with 114k on it. When i get to about 35 or 40 mph the car starts to shake. It lessens when you let off and will lessens even more if you put it in neutral. I have no idea what it could be. ehsnils
Start with checking wheel bearings.
08SpecB_DE
Could be a CV shaft or driveshaft.
shububu
Iv'e been dealing with vibration problems also. Get the wheels checked for true and a Roadforce balance. At least it will eliminate them. Then wheel bearings.....good luck
RecklessWOT
Do you let off at 40 every time, or have you gone faster? Does the vibration get worse at higher speeds or does it have a "sweet spot" where it goes away again? There are many things that can make a car shake/wobble/vibrate, but the fact that you can't feel it in the steering wheel means it's most likely not front-end related. What kind of condition is the rear suspension in? Rear axles/bearings? Are there any grinding/moaning sounds associated with it? Does the rear diff have fluid in it? Have you tried getting a 4 wheel alignment? Was the car ever in an accident before you got your hands on it?
