compression test? you'll see at least one cylinder lower than rest.

i was blowing white smoke under load but no real loss of power. limped home and started an epic 2000 post thread. :)

look underneath for oil dripping. also check radiator for oil drops. that was the first clue i had issues, other than smoke.

bleh, things I should do but am too lazy and too much in denial about

Autocrossed it on Sunday. One of the 3 people in SM had a broken car (drove to grid, but then didn't start), so I let them co-drive my car for the day. 14 runs total, oil still at F at the end of the day (was just a touch above F in the morning). No puff of blue smoke when I started it in the morning, either...

Here's my fastest (still slow) run. For reference, SM class winner ('07 STi on 295 RT660s, stock turbo + tune) was in the 58sec range compared to my 63.0

Is your door fully closed or is that chassis flex?   In the video every turn the door gap widens. :)

I'd say that's chassis flex for sure.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

Yup, I noticed that too. Door was certainly fully closed, but perhaps the lock and the chassis have developed some slop since 2007.

TL;DR if someone knows a good body shop who's willing to fix my front and back end in the portland Maine, let me know.  I could do it myself but i've never done it before and I'd probably screw it up without a mentor.

Nov 30, 2021.  Got Rear ended at a red light and pushed into a lifted jeep in front of me.  Not super bad, but bad enough.  only actual broken engine part was the power steering elbow thing.

stored the car for the winter, bought a 2022 BRZ.

Brought wagon out of storage and used a hammer to pull out the front end as much as I could.  Looks like garbage and has massive gaps, but the JDM front end bolted on well enough and the hood closes and latches just fine.

Late July, 2022, sold the BRZ because the wagon was more fun, and i sold it for more than what I paid for it.  I liked the BRZ but my fat old ass didn't really fit too well in it (desk job got me good).

Early August, switched over from Alaska washer fluid for my water/methanol injection fluid to the snow performance boost juice stuff.  Don't need it much here as we have 93 Octane in Maine vs the 90 up in Alaska, but It's easier to just switch  the juice vs re-tuning the car and plugging the injector nozzle hole.

I may or may not have raced a mk7 GTI who thought he was fast until he lost to me.  as well as some honda thing, not a type r, assuming an SI.  No idea.  it was a black honda civic.  I did lose to a BMW a month ago, but that's fair.  Didn't expect to win that one anyway.

It's a lot harder to run with people out here than it was in Alaska.  I kinda miss the Alaska freedom and subaru community up there.  Down here in Maine it's rare to be up against anyone who wants to have a little run, let alone be up against someone who wants to run when there's no traffic.

I have a Mainer car buddy in the Audi scene who is nuts about his cars.  I'll reach out to see what his body shops of choice are.

As a warning, all good body shops seem to be very busy right now.  My shop of choice when my allroad got hit said they wouldn't be able to touch my car for over 2 months.

Bought all the fittings needed to convert my stock fuel rails/lines to parallel with teflon braided AN-6 line (no more leaky rubber hose in winter) .....

Now I need to find an AFPR. :)

Spent a couple hours getting my intake manifold/TGV's off.  The PCV hoses are rock hard.  They will be replaced when I do my dual catch can setup.

This is the first time I've tore into a subaru engine.  Do these intakes look like they have been recently cleaned?  This car has 215,000 miles on it.

That's fine. I have an old Xterra I can roll around with for the time being. I expect them to be busy. Everything here is slow and lagging it seems. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Finally fixed the front grill I bought way back when and re-installed the emblem. PO used silicone to attach to the grill so it kinda flopped. I used JB weld, so it’s way more solid. Issue was, it took off a good chunk of backing so the emblem was trashed. Found this…not sure how I feel about it though. I liked it when it was installed but now it’s been on a few days.  Car feels incomplete with it. Going for a oem jdm spec b wagon look. Like the honeycomb grills but this seems a little too racer boi for me. Feels like it needs a different bumper and sit a tad lower to pull off the look.

That's definitely not a 215k mile head.. probably 15k at most.

But you know as they say, the more you dig...

Ripped the rod and plates out of my Legacy TGV's and JBwelded threaded aluminum plugs into the holes.

Picked up an extra Outback XT intake manifold with wiring, injectors, fuel rails, and red AVO silicone turbo hoses for cheap off FB Marketplace.  I can use the fuel rails if I screw up my AN-6 conversion 😛

Ordered a black silicone hose set.

Well, my garage is kinna tight. Sometimes, I have to fold my mirrors and there are days I exit the garage and forget to unfold the passenger side. Pain in the butt to reach it with the seat belt on .

Can say that the power folding mirrors are a nice touch! Also I have the convex mirrors on both passenger (stock USDM / LHD) and on the driver (stock JDM / RHD). I can see into last week now, almost no blind spot. Plus, as stated already, for an 18 year old car the folding is a fun flex! Also I just could not handle the fact that I had blank buttons

I hate blank buttons :spin:.

This past summer, I drove different vehicles overseas and backing them up was a breeze compared to my OBXTs. I still can't for the life of me back these cars up confidently using the USDM mirrors! Luckily I installed a backup camera several years ago, but still.. Maybe JDM mirrors would help.
