ItsjustisaacGT
Anybody have any opinions and or advice about coilovers for a Gen 3? All I seem to find online are Gen 4&5. Thanks in advance!
RumbleRumble
Depends on how many beans you wana spend. 800$ would be cheap and 1200 gets you "okay". Static is cheaper. New struts and springs are less than 600$ together
ItsjustisaacGT
I recently put new wheels and tires on, and whenever I hit larger bumps or dips or corner too hard my stock suspension isn't stiff enough to keep it from rubbing. Yet I have a fist of Gap still. Just trying to tighten and lower it a tad. Would new springs and shocks/struts help that?
RumbleRumble
What size wheels and tires? People claim KYB struts are stiffer than OEM but I've never felt fresh OEM. I'm very happy with my KYBs I put them on every car, even my Charger.

RumbleRumble
This guy is running 17 x 8. I believe the H&R springs drop it 1.5inchs https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/h-r-springs-02-165720.html
tehsbean
I lowered my BE a little while back using a set of springs/struts from a BL (05 GT to be specific.) The rear assembly was a direct bolt in with the BL parts, including the strut mounts, and the fronts required the tophats to be swapped for BE hats, everything else lined up without issue. A great way to accomplish a lowering on the cheap, or to expand your lowering spring options, and would probably work with coilovers too. The result on Tein H.Techs and some used stock struts:
xrayspecs
from like 99% of what ive looked at an read the BL/BP stuff is the only model year that has a direct interchange for matching the BE/BHs in the rear.
ItsjustisaacGT
So gen 4 coilovers will fit the rear perfect and the fronts need different top hats? To fit the BH?
glennda5id
BC Racing makes coilovers for this generation. They are fully height adjustable independent of preload. https://store.racingcoiloversusa.com/products/2000-2004-subaru-legacy

azm613
I am also curious about using the LGT stuff on my 04 Outback Wago. Can I use the BL stuff from 2005? or atleast the springs for a more aggressive stance?
RumbleRumble
I recently picked up a 05 LGT wagon for a flip and it has Tein Flex coilovers that i'm fairly impressed with.
