CamaroSS2000
Is it just moisture???? Anyone else have this issue?
ehsnils
Check the tension. It might be time for a new belt too. Also check belt pulleys - a bad pulley bearing can also squeak, but you have to loosen the belt to check that.
ammcinnis
Belt noise is not normal, whether moisture is present or not. The 2.5 engine uses an automatic belt tensioner, which should compensate for temperature changes and belt stretch. (The belt tensioner on the 3.6 is manually adjusted.) Remove the belt and check it for wear, cracks, and/or glazing. Check the tensioner for free operation, and check that the tensioner pulley and all idler pulleys turn smoothly. You don't say how many miles on your Legacy. Depending on age and mileage, I would probably just install a new belt and possibly replace the tensioner and idler pulleys. tmoney468
Also good to fix squeak as soon as possible, as allowing it to continue can glaze the pulleys = a bigger job. Glad you had it resolved
capttris
with 95,000 miles on my 2013, I get a little squeak on a really damp morning, OR after I clean and hose lightly under the hood, so the belt would be totally wet. Otherwise it's quiet
