Wrxjake Posted January 28, 2019 Share Posted January 28, 2019 So my plan was to swap my 05 wrx (I know it’s a legacy forum don’t bully me with a spec b 6 speed and ran into some problems.) hopefully someone that knows if the legacy’s driveshaft length is different compared to the Imprezas and so on.. So I did the complete swap everything bolted up ready to go. First test drove went well for about 1 minute then I noticed a really bad vibration which later turned into almost like a thudding vibration and noise. I think it’s my driveshaft, when I slid the driveshaft into the transmission it clicked in good and the mount lined up good too. The problem I saw was when bolting the ds to rear diff, there was a quarter inch gap so I stupidly just tried closing the gap thinking that would help for some reason...which obviously correlated to the the driveshaft sliding out of the trans side a bit so it lines up with the rear diff. So is that where my problem is? Should I be using a 2008+ ds? Automatic Legacy Driveshaft?? Info on swap: Car - 2005 WRX Trans - Jdm spec b 6 speed trans Diff - 2008?
