FLlegacy
I have seen members merely recoat them with spray paint, plastidip them, and wrap them in vinyl. I think for these pieces vinyl will last the longest.
t0lkman
Can I remove them or just paint in place?
FLlegacy
It is apparently not meant to be removed, as the repair manual shows a rivet holding in the front piece. I would leave it in place...one more reason to use the vinyl in my opinion.
YeuEmMaiMai
I would remove it and replace it... or repaint it with something more durable the problem with painting it in place is you are going to have a edge between painted and not painted parts and it will peel again.. DrD123
Can I remove them or just paint in place? Removing and refinishing is probably the way to go - they are held in place with six clips and a push in rivet - so no pulling the headliner or anything like that. Service manual has you release each clip, then slide the trim piece forward or backwards (depending on the side) - the part is inexpensive, so when mine gets ugly enough that I want to fix it, I'll probably just order up a replacement for each side (MSRP on the parts is $35/side plus about the same in plastic fittings) - below are the instructions on removal from the service manual.
