Legacy 2.5i NA T-belt skip root cause

Just trying to figure out if the engine is in need of a rebuild, and if the initial cause of the skipped T-belt is fixed. Might be a good excuse to trade up to a LGT now.

Its a 2007 legacy 2.5i AT with 315k (km), head gasket and t-belt + accs done 60k ago. I started looking into the car as it would die when coming to a full stop either in D or N during normal driving which was getting progressively worst. It completely died the other day and seems to have ignition timing issue as when cranking over the engine comes to a hard stop. When cranking over without fuel there is no hard stop and no obvious other noises.

Removed the inspection panel on the t-belt and found that the belt is almost 180 degrees out on the camshafts. Checked the belt tension and it was very tight, tensioner has plenty of pressure on it, all of the bearing have been replaced without any of them being bad. I have the crankshaft, camshaft and knock sensors out to check the resistances and about to see if I can check if there was any marks on the pistons from the valves. Is there any other was the t-belt would skip?

Thanks

Re-check your checking. No way would the engine run with a camshaft anywhere near 180 degrees off. Sounds like you need to turn the crankshaft 360 degrees and then inspect the marks.

This sounds like it might be a torque converter, or transmission fluid level issue to me.

Turn out we were looking at the timing belt marks and trying to line them up, well that was a wasted day chasing that. So now looking at the issue it seems to be ignition related I checked crank, cam and knock sensors and they are all good resistance wise. Checked ignition coil, plugs and wires as well.

What would emit a loud compression type squeak when cranking over and the engine comes to a hard stop only with fuel and ignition hooked up.

Would this happen when the car would be put into neutral and stop the car?
