klxdrt Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Hi, I posted this problem several wks ago. That problem still exists, dealer is still working on it. THAT NOT THE QUESTION OR PROBLEM NOW, JUST BACKGROUND INFO. Dealer visits: 1) At first visit, they did an "Update". Second visit did the same. Prob still exists. 2) Contacted Subaru, which sent the a multi pg PDF to fill out which I did. 3) NOW FOR MY SITUATION/QUESTION: Yesterday, rode up the GSPKY listening to the std radio, using cruse control & GPS. a) Noticed some anomalies: When I pushed the cruise control set switch up, Mph incremented by 5 Mph rather than 1 Mph as before Update?? b) When GPS interrupted radio to give directions, I swear I heard the radio coming thru some back speakers?? Legacy is a 2.5 Premier with only front spkrs with std radio. Does the mean, maybe there are more speakers installed in the car that are not activated?? My Guess: During the updating, the dealer flashed the master chip & updated "everything that needed updating?? And that caused the anomalies. IN trying to contact the dealer, their phone systems most of the time "they're busy giving superior svc, that they will get back to me when they can" Does anyone have any Ideas on this mess? Hope for dealer answer nxt wk. Unfortunately in NJ where I live, many chain busn are Oligopolies. The rest just pay off Trenton. Regards, klxdrt
rec630 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 My first Subaru. I found it different i.e. reversed than other cars but in prior posts, Subaru owners said its normal and always been like that. Manual would agree: While driving with Adaptive Cruise Control on, operate the RES/SET switch as follows. • Push to the “RES/+” side briefly. Every time the switch is pushed, the set vehicle target speed will increase to the next 5 MPH (5 km/h) increment. • Push to the “RES/+” side continuously. While the switch is being pushed, the set vehicle target speed will increase by 1 MPH (1 km/h). • Push to the “SET/-” side briefly. Every time the switch is pushed, the set vehicle target speed will decrease in to the next 5 MPH (5 km/h) decrement. • Push to the “SET/-” side continuously. While the switch is being pushed, the set vehicle target speed will decrease by 1 MPH (1 km/h).
SubieN8 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I just experienced the "Initializing" thing with my SXM radio presets. Turned the car off and back on didn't work. I reprogrammed the presets (only happened to 1-4) and they're fine so far. I chalk it up to new system glitches and if it happens again, I'll have them do whatever they need to do at my first oil change. This hasn't happened to our 2018 Crosstrek Limited, just to my 2018 50th ed. Legacy.

What you are saying is normal '18 operation. I think all trims have speakers front and back. You should see speakers in both your rear doors. You may not have the 10/12 speaker system as the HK, but you should have 4/6...

klxdrt Posted March 29, 2018 Author Posted March 29, 2018 Noticed some posts are missing, where did they go? Will someone please tell me where the glossary of the small operational icons is located? regards klxdrt
ammcinnis Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Noticed some posts are missing, where did they go? I have no idea what you're talking about. Will someone please tell me where the glossary of the small operational icons is located? What specific "operational icons" are you asking about? With reference to your 2018 Legacy, you can start by referring to pages 24 and 25 of the 2018 Legacy/Outback Owners Manual: Warning and Indicator Lights. For a more complete and definitive listing of internationally-standardized symbols (i.e. more than you ever wanted to know), Google ISO Standard 2575 (2010): Road Vehicles -- Symbols for Controls, Indicators, and Tell-Tales. "If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there." ~ The Cheshire Cat (Alice in Wonderland)
SubieN8 Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 I have the most recent software update - per my Service Advisor. So this will probably be corrected with the next update. Still only SXM presets 1-4, all others are still fine.
klxdrt Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 Hi, Thanks for the help on the cruise cntrl incrementation. Dealer told me differently. Your description worked, I pushed the cntrl switch up or down & HELD IT as mileage incremented at 1 mph. klxdrt XM radio problem still not solved after about a month. I sent them the comment about the denso vs HK unit, maybe that's the problem?
jcw18 Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 I had the same issue with SXM preset 1-4. After a few trips to the dealership SOA agreed to replace the head unit. So keep working with the dealer and have them contact their tech line.

Crossing fingers that the next software update fixes this for me. Thank you!

Crossing fingers that the next software update fixes this for me. Thank you! It has been a couple of months already, and no issue with the new head unit and the presets. I was at the dealership about a week ago and saw an 18 outback sitting in service with a part requisition note on the dash for a audio unit, so this seems to be known issue, at least at my dealership. I do not think it is a software issue, since some people have a problem and other do not. I think it is a Harmon Kardon/Samsung hardware/QA issue.
