jazmine94 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Greetings, I have taken my Legacy 2008 to my mechanic twice for overheating issues and it still it having the same problems. 130K Miles Subaru Legacy 2008 2.5 limited He replaced the TStat and replaced the radiator because it had a crack in it, it still leaks and he does not know what to do next. We have replaced coolant because it has leaked. Sometimes it may travel only 2 miles and then we have to pull over because the thermastat is on high.
apexi Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Maybe there's still air in the system. Could try to burp it out. *Also as he mentions, there could be a head gasket problem too. Air (combustion chamber gasses) entering the cooling system past a bad head gasket. Also, only remove the radiator cap like that when the engine is cold. Also, are you running an OEM subaru water pump? Aftermarket water pump? Has it ever been replaced?
jazmine94 Posted March 17, 2018 Author Posted March 17, 2018 I will have to ask thanks for sharing that info.

Infosecdad Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Probably air in the system. Also, you need an OEM thermostat. If he put in aftermarket, need to go back to OEM, in addition be careful not to put it in backward. Burping the air out of the coolant can be tricky, and may take a few iterations.
