Constantly_Banned
Hey all, I have an JDM 06 3.0R Spec B with the McIntosh dual climate control system, and I recently returned from a 3 month trip and I have a weird issue now... The passenger (Left side) side heat doesn't work unless I turn it up to like 30.0 C or higher, than it blows hot... So if both sides are set to say, 26.0 C my side will blow hot air, and her side is blowing ice cold air... but if I bump hers up to 30.0 C and mine doesn't change, her side will blow hot air as well... What should I start looking at to fix this issue? My first thought was a fuse of some sorts and turning the heat to 30 activates a second "Emergency" type fuse. Like when your fan motor fuse goes out, so low and medium don't work, but if you put it on high it blows air again because the high function has a back up fuse type of deal. any insight? Thanks in advance.
Wasted Potential
I think it's a fan relay or something. Basically the fan only kicks on If it's in a certain mode/position or has a high request/demand. Not sure if the two sides have different relays? Basically, test the fan speeds not in auto mode. See if issue is attributed merely to one of the speeds or a few speeds not working.
relative4
The heater core is clogged. The sediment accumulates on the passenger side. Some people need to replace the core, but many do fine with a good flush.

ehsnils
After the flush - make sure you refill the system properly and "burp" it too since the boxer engines are notorious for having air pockets when the coolant is replaced. An air pocket can cause local overheating in the engine which is bad. It might be a good idea to flush the rest of the cooling system as well to clear out all sludge that has accumulated since otherwise it may come back into the heater core. A refill with fresh coolant suitable for aluminum blocks should be done too.
