Knapp
Hey guys, I have a 2008 Subaru Legacy GT Limited with vehicle Dynamic control, I just got my clock spring replaced as the old ones ribbon was torn, the steering wheel lost all control the airbag light was on during that time along with the VDC light. When the clock spring was reinstalled initially upon startup the airbag light disappeared for the first time and what seems like forever. After a short drive up the road the airbag light decided to come back on. If the info helps I have disconnected the Beeper that goes along with the driver's side seat belt. Let me know what you guys thank! Thanks!
sshole
It could be the airbag module near the front map lights. Those tend to fail at the solder joints.
kzr750r1
^that was the ticket for me. Fixed a key fob with the same problem. Just tick the resistors with some solder and it's good to go again.
herotree
I have the same problem - airbag WITH vdc light lit (the one with the slash through it meaning it's not working, not just turned 'off'). I'm pretty sure I damaged my clock spring while replacing the steering gear - though I've removed the whole clock spring and checked it and reset it and it seems okay. After I did all that the airbag warning came on again AND the VDC - which wasn't there before... Ack! I don't mind replacing the clock spring if I have to but... what's with the VDC light too? Or is there something else causing all this - something I may have put back incorrectly after truing to fix clockspring? Thx!
kzr750r1
Did you re solder the components on the board? For me it was the resistors having poor solder joints and the airbag light not functioning properly. There were three in there that needed help from memory. No VDC for me nor have I messed with the clock spring. But worth a check.
