ccrexer
Hello everyone, I'm new to this thread, but not new to subys. I used to have an '04 sti until my idiot nephew blew the motor. Anyway, I find myself looking for another vehicle, since my last one's trans is giving me the death throws. I have found an '05 legacy GT turbo on craigslist for $2500.00. Issue is, the seller lists that all 3 wiring harnesses have been eaten by rats. He is telling me that the abs and airbag light is on and is showing the ss code (steering stabilizer). Other than that, he says it runs and drives fine. My question is, can I buy the wiring harnesses and replace them myself, and is it something that is DIY, or should I have a shop do it? If your suggesting a pro to handle it, what would be an estimated cost? I would kill to get into another suby!
spacemanspif
If you can find a donor car that was maybe rear ended you could pull the harness and it SHOULD be a plug and play job. Broken plug locks are probably a guarantee but can be mended with enough searching online. How much sitting has the car done between all these chewed up harnesses? What other damage was done to the interior, vacuum lines etc.? $2500 is too rich for my blood but around $1200 for a car I know is going to be a project sounds more reasonable. Wasted Potential
Agreed. These do not have "awesome" resale. I would think it's worth 1800-2k if you knew what you were diving into, but for a project I agree with the 1k-1.5k kinda thing...
