slushboxgt
Hi, It was about 30f here this morning, and after the wife started the 80K mile '08 LGT 5EAT and let it idle for a bit, she had me come out to listen to a noise it was making. Came from the rear of the car, at first kind of like a dog barking, then a high pitched whine, then stopped. The car ran and drove fine, fuel pump on the way out? Never made this noise before. Wasted Potential
Possibly, but doubt it if OEM. They seem pretty rare to fail before something around it leaks haha. Factory ones are good quality. If it goes, just pay the $280 for the full sending unit and gasket filler. Take 30 minutes and swap!
slushboxgt
Tks, OEM never touched, don't know what else it could be though?
Wasted Potential
Usually would have a constant whine. Nothing noise wise back there. All I can think of is t One of the drive belts.
slushboxgt
Naw, I have one car with drive belts in the back, but this ain't it : )
WahooNo2
was it a full or empty tank?
slushboxgt
About half full. I had a another thought, might sound weird, but could I have heard a turbo bearing on the way out coming through the pipes at the back? I had a rebuilt turbo installed about three months ago. I've driven it about 20~30 miles since, no noise. Thanks, Paul
Wasted Potential
We often know just enough to get us in trouble, while not being experts. I know this is my problem... I hear one thing and replace 2 things... wallet breaker! Sometimes, it's best to be ignorant and pretend it didn't happen and drive it haha. slushboxgt
I hear you, but the noise was definitely there and coming from the back of the car, not imagined. My wife drives this car now, frequently on a multi-lane with no shoulders, I can't risk it, so I ordered a new pump and filter. Curious to see if there is anything obvious when I pull the old one.
