2016昴
Hi nice to meet you all. I have a question on LED headlight. I recently purchased a set of LED light bulbs and installed them on 2016 Legacy. However, now the high beam comes on when the orange running lights are supposed to be on. In order for me to shut the high beam during day, I have to turn on the head light (low beam, of course). Can we fix this or I have to get another set of LED? upstater
the DRL resistor sends a lower current to the halogen high beam bulb that makes it glow. But that same low current sent to an LED bulb will fully light it. So you need to put the halogen bulb back in, or drive around with your LED in the high beam position, most likely at full brightness. Or turn on the low beams, which disables the DRL signal, as you discovered.
securityguy
I left my LED bulbs in and drove around all day every day with the DRLs in high brightness. Did this for over 2 years with out ever an issue. No one ever flashed their lights at me and I felt even safer as I knew I would aways be seen. Personal preference and your call but normal and I would just leave them alone and let them stay full bright.

Its not like you are going to go put your halogens back coz someone flashed at you. They are also extremely annoying to the car in front of you, especially at dawn and dusk. Its for this very reason that I have my light sensor covered so the auto dimming mirrors are all dark anytime they pick up light coming from behind. Search for the DRL disable or switchbacks in the search feature on the top right. If you want to keep your LED high beams, its best to do one of those two mods. ehsnils
DRLs in main beams is a nuisance. Better to run the low beams or to have separate DRL lamps. Euro vehicles have a combined fog/drl lamp.
